Whether you use your 240sx for daily driving, racing, or drifting, the best way to keep your Nissan functioning optimally is to get the right tools for monitoring its inner workings. Many choose aftermarket automotive gauges and other diagnostic devices to help monitor the most vital functions of their vehicle to ensure there is no damage being done to the vehicle’s engine, turbo, exhaust manifold and more. Nothing brings out a custom interior style like a set of gauges mounted to your 240sx’s dashboard or A-pillar.
So you need to know how to bleed the clutch on a Nissan 240sx?
The job itself should take less then an hour, but if you have someone else to give you a hand, it’ll take much less. Unless you have a pump bleeder accessible, then the job itself will be a breeze. Before you we get down to business, if the clutch dampener has not been removed yet, now would be a good time to do so. The clutch dampener causes 97% of clutch problems with the 240sx. The clutch master cylinder could be one, and the slave could be another, and the hose itself that goes from the dampener to the slave could be rotten or leaking. These are the most common issues with a fault clutch pedal.
LS Swap the world!
Time to ditch the lame engine in your 240sx, whether it’s KA, SR, or even RB and move on to the LS1! Lets face it, you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t already in the process of swapping it in now, unless you are doing your research before you start,”If that’s the case, KUDOS to you.” If you are in fact already swapping it in you are probably looking up how to attack the most common issue with the swap, the GM Vats System.
Bypassing VATS on LS1 for 240sx Swapping
What is VATS?
Vats stands for Vehicle Anti Theft System. Lots of people refer to this type of key, as a ” computer Chip key”. This key or “Chip” has nothing to do with a computer, nor is it a chip. But because of the popularity of calling it a computer chip key, so will we. So that we don’t confuse. The black chip on the blade of the key is actually a resister. GM first started using the Vats key in 1986 on the Corvettes, then some of the Cadillac’s, ect. GM uses 15 different resistors in their vats keys. Just looking at the keys you can’t tell the difference. What is GM’s VATS

The basics to getting started – Drifting!
So you have yourself a Nissan 240sx, Mazda rx7, or anything that is RWD and want to start drifting. As you will find out anywhere that drifting is by all means not a, “Poor Mans Sport.” It doesn’t take much to enjoy the sport or at least experience the feeling and rush you get. The actual cost getting started is simply buying the car itself. Although drifting a completely stock car is possible, you will have certain limitation on how well you do, and this is the reason I am writing this. I started drifting with a 1989 s13 Nissan 240sx and I still had a KA24e or, “single cam slam”. Drifting with a car with hardly any HP/TQ IS in fact possible and I highly recommend it for beginners. Drifting a low power car teaches you the basics of actually handling your car. The cool hop up stuff comes in a little later. Since this site is 240-sx related, I will base everything off of the S chassis Platform.
Basic Drifting Upgrades
Starting out “considering you already have purchased your 240sx” The differential on a 240sx is 9/10 an open differential. Meaning you have 1 wheel putting down the power to move the car. “Open Differential or LSD”, testing this is simple and you can find out really quick. Rev up your car and dump the clutch to begin a burn out. Have a friend, family member, or your local police officer watch the back wheels. If 1 wheel begins spinning and stays spinning while the other does nothing, congratulations you have an open differential. If both of your wheels spin then you have a rare case, and have a LSD differential. This can be a very common case, especially if the car has been drifted by a previous owner.

If you just getting into the 240sx scene, or have been in it for quite some time like I have then you have somewhere long the lines heard of Enjuku Racing. If you Google 240sx Parts one of the top results will be Enjuku. Regardless if you Have an s13 or s14, KA24e/ka24de, or even your more than common JDM swaps: SR20det, RB20DET, 1JZhte/2JZGTE and so on they will be the best place to track down parts. If you are looking to turbo your ka24 then you should have a look at there manifolds section, for the price of a brand new high quality turbo manifold, one would expect to pay over $400 but for $200 they have a perfect fitment bottom mount. From OEM to aftermarket parts, they most likely have it and for a great price. I am not getting paid to write this, and I don’t hold them in higher regard than any other, but with my own experience, and over 15 240sx’s I’d say they are fair.

240sx Boost Your KA24 Cheap
Many people who first get into the Nissan 240sx will notice the S Chassis has great handling, looks pretty good, but lacks something. Power… The ka24e and ka24de although have pretty good pull for being what they are, they fall on there face when it comes down to it. Yea, you can slap a intake and buy some EBAY headers and exhaust and think your gained a lot of power! The truth is you didn’t Intake, Headers, and Exhaust sound great and usually are, but in some cases you will lose power down low for power up high or vise versa. What I mean is you might lose mid RPM power but increase your lower RPM power. The ka24e and ka24de are not bag engines, they just need something more.
240sx Turbo Kit
Putting a turbo on a 240sx can easily be done in a day, My friends and I did it in a few hours with random turbo parts laying around my garage. It is very easy to throw a turbo on and ride out, BUT there are some short cuts people take that can lead to huge headaches and just a not so cool time. These days with the price of swaps being so cheap, SR20DET and RB20DET are going for pretty cheap where I live,”Florida”. You can get a swap for less than $1,600 and have boost in your 240sx in no time. If swaps are already turbo and cheaper, why not go with them you might be asking. That’s simple, the swap might be $1,600 but you do need more parts to finish it. By the time you are done you will be in it $2,000+ in most cases. Don’t get me wrong, I own SR’s too, they are fun, but just lack the power down low. When you put a turbo on a KA you can be conservative and gain 60-80 more HP and Torque, or if you know what your doing you can get well over 150 more HP and Torque.
240sx Turbo Parts and What’s Needed
If your Nissan 240sx s13 or s14 are having some rough idling going on, wants to die, or even won’t let you rev very high it’s time to have a look at your mass air flow sensor.
What does a Mass Air Flow Sensor do?
The mass air flow sensor tells the ECU how much air is coming into the engine.
It is quite easy to remove your MAF and clean it, this can “sometimes” clear up a few hiccups you are having with your 240sx. It is extremely cheap to do and doesn’t hurt anything. If anything it will further help you diagnose a problem with your Nissan is there is one.
